WHY?

That’s the question we started with when we began to discuss taking over Madrina’s space with a new cocktail bar. It’s never easy to take the place of something beloved – not just by us, but by anyone who spent an evening over an expertly-crafted, Cuban-inspired cocktail sometime in the past six years.

As it turned out, our love for establishments (and more importantly the people behind them) who add to the social fabric of Gainesville made our “why” self-evident – this was an opportunity to continue the celebration of community and connection – with cocktails.

Naturally, the questions didn’t stop at “why?”

How do we best toast the Gainesville community? Who do we trust to craft some of the best cocktails in town? What can we do to make every evening intimate and memorable? And of course, what are we going to call this place?

The bar is called Kin, in celebration of the people we choose to call family and the places we choose to call home. For answers to the other questions, you’ll have to come inside. We hope you’ll find connections to local artists, musicians, mixologists, and above all, each other.

We’ll see you this November.
